How to use a wheelchair
How to use a wheelchair:

1. Getting in/out of the wheelchair: Choose a flat surface and ensure the surroundings are safe (avoid getting in/out on slopes).
2. Before getting into the wheelchair: Lock the tires first to stabilize the position and prevent the wheelchair from moving. Then, remove or detach the calf straps and footrests to avoid obstructing the user.
3. After getting into the wheelchair: Immediately adjust the calf straps and footrests back to their original positions. Unlock the tires and begin propelling.
4. Crossing a threshold: Press down on the anti-tip bar and push handles simultaneously to raise the front wheels, then slowly push forward to cross the threshold (avoid rushing over thresholds or curbs).
5. Opening the wheelchair: Do not push or pull the armrests. Place both hands on either side of the seat and push outwards from the middle of both sides.
6. Folding the wheelchair: First, fold up the footrests. Place both hands on the front and back of the seat and pull upwards from the middle of both the front and back sections.
7. Wheelchairs are not suitable for escalators, and avoid using wheelchairs to climb stairs.
The above are essential basic skills. During on-site trial assessments (for power wheelchair trials or special requests), our specialists will provide targeted tips and advice.
