Large Wheel Wheelchair Usage

Basic Forward Movement:
Hold the hand rims, keeping your elbow joint at approximately 120 degrees, and push forward. When using on a sloped surface, exert more force on the side that is lower. Remember to keep the wheelchair moving forward and not to turn towards the lower side of the road.

Usage on Different Surfaces:

When going uphill, maintain a forward-leaning posture. If the slope is steep, use a zigzag method to reduce the steepness.

FAQs

Manual wheelchairs are suitable for Hong Kong users with strong upper limbs or those who have a caregiver to push them. They are lightweight (7-15kg), portable, and typically have a seat width of 40-46cm, making them suitable for indoor and flat surface use.

Electric wheelchairs, on the other hand, are designed for individuals who require independent mobility, have weak hands or legs, or need to travel long distances. They feature electric controls and incline climbing capabilities, with the lightest models weighing 10kg. They also meet the requirements for inclines in Hong Kong and can even be taken on airplanes for travel.

Selection Advice: Assess the user's height and weight, independent mobility, lifestyle, and environment. We recommend contacting us to understand and confirm your needs. Learn more: Manual Wheelchair vs. Electric Wheelchair Guide.

Wheelchair dimensions should be chosen according to the user's height and weight. Mainstream seat widths are 40-46cm, seat depths are 40-46cm, and seat heights are 48-55cm, to ensure even pressure distribution and reduce the risk of pressure sores. Backrest height should reach the shoulder blades to provide stable support.

Hong Kong's latest recommendations for lightweight electric wheelchairs: weighing 10-20kg, with a lithium battery range of 13-30km, and easy-folding designs such as carbon fiber frame types, suitable for both indoor and outdoor use and for carrying on planes. Advantages include quiet brushless motors, fast charging (4 hours to full charge), and powerful motors capable of handling Hong Kong's sloped roads.

Suitable for: Urban seniors or office workers, to enhance self-care ability. Ho Ho Medical Supplies distributes various CE/FDA certified international brands, with some products offering global repair support. Book a trial now: Lightweight Electric Wheelchair Buying Guide.

Prices for electric wheelchairs in Hong Kong range from HK$3,000 to HK$50,000+, with major differences stemming from the motor (brushed motors are durable but heavy, brushless motors are lightweight, quiet, and last 5 years longer), battery (lithium batteries last 500-1000 cycles, lead-acid batteries are cheaper but weigh 20kg), and controller (PG brand offers precision vs. basic domestic brands).

Budget Recommendations: Lightweight models start from HK$10,000, high-performance models from HK$14,000. Ho Ho Medical offers transparent pricing with a 2-year warranty to help you avoid inferior modified products. View the latest price list: Electric Wheelchair Buying Guide.
