Can those power wheelchairs truly cross curbs, thresholds, and gaps in subways and light rail? Use Omni Wheel!
The electric wheelchair that truly crosses curbs, thresholds, subways, and light rail without getting stuck!? Use Omni Wheel!
At every edge of Hong Kong, we use technology to open up new frontiers of accessibility, acting as the general agent for various award-winning new technology products.
The smart wheelchair series equipped with omni wheels—WHILL C2 and Robooter E60—brings unprecedented stability and freedom with its advanced multi-directional drive system.
How the Omni Wheel works:
360° Omnidirectional Movement
Omni wheels are equipped with small rollers around their circumference, allowing for 360° omnidirectional movement, including sideways and diagonal motion, enabling precise positioning without needing to turn the wheelchair body. This holonomic drive technology excels in urban obstacles, directly climbing curbs without getting stuck in gaps.
Application in Wheelchairs
Reduced Bumps and Slip Risks
When applied to wheelchairs, such as the WHILL C2, Robooter E60 Pro , omni wheels allow users not only to move forward and backward but also to approach beds or tables sideways, and to cross subway platform gaps more smoothly.
Because the multi-directional rollers simultaneously distribute pressure and maintain ground contact, omni wheels can reduce bumps and the risk of slipping when crossing curbs or uneven surfaces, making transitions smoother and safer.

Climbing Curbs:
Climbing curbs or obstacles about 2–5 inches (5–10 cm) high
Both WHILL C2 and Robooter E60 Pro feature large omni wheels paired with high-torque dual motors, allowing them to stably climb curbs or obstacles approximately 2–5 inches (5–12 cm) high. The WHILL C2 uses a patented Japanese omni wheel design composed of 24 rollers, enhancing grip and stability, and is equipped with a suspension system to maintain ride comfort when traversing uneven surfaces. The Robooter E60 is equipped with 10-inch omnidirectional wheels and an independent suspension structure, capable of crossing obstacles up to 8cm, while maintaining stable travel on grass, brick, and concrete surfaces.

Crossing Subway Platform Gaps:
The omni wheel's lateral sliding capability allows users to precisely align with the train door and easily cross the horizontal gap (approx. 4–7 inches / 10–18 cm) between the subway car and the platform.
For platforms with several inches of height difference, the omni wheel's flexible axle and motor torque can help the wheelchair roll smoothly over, reducing the risk of tipping, making travel safer and more reliable.
