How to use a small wheel wheelchair? [Caregiver Type] Wheelchair Pushing Skills
Last time we mentioned how users can control a large wheel push wheelchair by themselves. This time I will introduce you to the correct method of using a small wheel push wheelchair and some things that caregivers need to pay attention to.
Basic way to move forward:
The caregiver must first hold the wheelchair's handle and push it forward in the direction they want to go. Remember not to stop suddenly to avoid scaring the passengers. When using it on a sloping road, the hand on the sloping side needs to exert force, just remember not to turn in the lower direction.
How to use different road surfaces :
A. Stone ridge / small steps
1. First park the wheelchair in front of the stone ridge
2. While pulling the handle, tilt the wheelchair backward to lift the front roller
3. Make sure the rear roller touches the step
4. Lift the rear wheel and cross the stone ridge
Lean forward to go uphill; turn to go downhill. Be careful not to go downhill forward to prevent the rider from falling forward and being injured.
C. Tunnel/sag location
Please cross the pit at a right angle to avoid the front roller getting stuck. In addition, you can also lift the front roller to pass.
D. Canal
Please cross the manhole cover in a diagonal manner to prevent the vehicle wheels from falling into the gap.
